His burial record shows that he was born on 15 Aug 1847. His death certificate shows that he was born on 15 Aug 1846 but shows the age at time of death as 80 year, 4 months and 19 days which equates to a birth date of 15 Aug 1847. He appears in the 1848 census with his parents and is listed as 2 years of age. In addition, there is only one child named Joseph in the household which would lend credence to the fact that the 1848 baptismal record at Sacred Heart did, indeed, belong to this person. The 1900 Census shows his date of birth as Aug 1848. Therefore, I believe that it is very likely that the 27 July 1848 date of birth is very likely accurate.
