20. Augustin A. COUVILLION was likely born in 1836 or 1837 in Borodino (Avoyelles Parish), Louisiana but a baptismal record has not been located for him. Augustin enlisted in the Civil War on 24 September 1862 at Camp Pratt in New Iberia, Louisiana. He was a Private in Company H, 18th Regiment Louisiana Infantry which was led by Colonel J. J. Alfred Mouton. He was present in the January and February 1863 rolls. On February 20, 1863, he was listed as 'returned from hospital'. He was present on the May and June 1863 military rolls but, in the July and August rolls dated 27 August 1863, he was listed as 'absent, sick at Camp Taylor'. In November 1863, the regiment was merged with another to form the Consolidated 18th Regiment and Yellow Jacket Battalion, Louisiana Infantry. In the new regiment, Augustin was a member of Company E and he appeared on their rolls for January and February 1864. He was paroled at Alexandria on 28 June 1865.^222,223,224 He died on 6 February 1910 at the age of 74 in (Avoyelles Parish), Louisiana, USA.²²³ He was buried at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery & Mausoleum in Moreauville (Avoyelles Parish), Louisiana, USA.²²³ Florence COUVILLION and Augustin A.
