Joseph Valentin MOREAU was born on 1 July 1709 and baptized the following day at Notre Dame in Québec (Québec Province), Canada.^1,2901 He died on 11 March 1782 and was buried on 11 March 1782 in Opelousas (St. Landry Parish), Louisiana, USA.¹⁶²⁴ Marie Jeanne LAFLEUR (ANDRE) and Joseph Valentin MOREAU were likely married bef 1753 in Mobile (Mobile County), Alabama, USA. The family of Joseph Valentin and Marie Jeanne appeared in the 1771 and 1777 census at Opelousas Post. It is believed that they moved there from Mobile between 1765 and 1770 - likely to avoid living under British rule as a result of the outcome of the French and Indian War.

[Note: Joseph signed a marriage contract with Marie Catherine Pothier on 19 March 1736 at Fort de Chartres. Although a marriage record has not been found, it does appear that the couple married. In "The Kaskaskia Manuscripts", a document dated 5 September 1737 states that "sale by Joseph Moreau, acting as guardian of his wife Catherine Potie, to Joseph Buchet, her brother-in-law...". He is also referred to in the Kaskaskian records many times as Joseph Valentin Moreau or Valentin Moreau.]

	v.	Eustache MOREAU was born about 1767.
	vi.	Rosalie MOREAU was born on 15 April 1770 in Louisiana, USA.¹⁶³³ She was baptized on 20 April 1771 in Opelousas (St. Landry Parish), Louisiana, USA.¹⁶³³
	vii.	Marie Louise MOREAU was born about 1773.
	viii.	Joseph MOREAU was born on 22 July 1772 in Louisiana, USA.¹⁶³⁴ He was baptized on 26 July 1772 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, USA.¹⁶³⁴
	ix.	Fauchonnette MOREAU was born about 1774.
	x.	Françoise MOREAU was baptized on 31 March 1777 in Opelousas (St. Landry Parish), Louisiana, USA.¹⁶³⁵ (Note: Is is very possible that Fauchonnette and Françoise are the same person but haven't had the chance to investigate further to confirm.)
