Thirteenth Generation

7928. Jean ROY I was born in 1633 in Marans (Charente-Maritime) (Poitou Charentes Region), France. However, I have not found his baptismal record so his parentage is speculative. However, this was the only Roy family having children in Marans during this time period.1958 He came to the New World aboard the "Saint-André" with Jeanne Mance and arrived in Québec on 7 Sep 1659. The ship had embarked from the port of LaRochelle on 2 July 1659. He appeared in the census in 1666 in Canada with his wife and three young children (Jeanne Francoise, Jean, (?) Marie [Agnes]).1 Jean appeared in the census in 1667 in Montréal (Québec Province), Canada with his wife, Francoise and their four children (Jeanne Francoise, Jean, Marie Agnes and Jeanne Francoise). They owned 1 beast and had only 3 arpents in cultivation. He was buried in November 1676 in Lachine (Quebec Province), Canada.1958 Françoise BOUET/BOUAT/BOUHET and Jean ROY I1385 signed a marriage contract on 14 May 1659. He was the widower of Margerite Courtin at the time of his 2nd marriage. He had married Courtin in Marans in 1656. They were married on 5 June 1659 in La Rochelle (Notre-Dame-de-Cougnes) (Charente-Maritime) (Poitou Charentes Region), France. Jeanne Mance, one of the original settlers of Montréal and founder of the Hôtel-Dieu of Montreal, signed their marriage record. This is quite significant because Jeanne had returned to France (from Montréal ) for a short time between approximately the late fall/early winter of 1658 and 7 September 1659 (the date she arrived back in Montréal). It is likely that she embarked for New France at about the same time she signed this marriage record.1,1692

[Note: Jean's 1st marriage was to Marguerite Courtin on 23 April 1656 at Marans.]

7929. Françoise BOUET/BOUAT/BOUHET was born in Marans (Charente-Maritime) (Poitou Charentes Region), France. She was baptized about 1636 in Marans (Charente-Maritime) (Poitou Charentes Region), France.2657 She came to the New World aboard the "Saint Andre" with Jeanne Mance and arrived in Québec on 7 Sep 1659. The ship had embarked from the port of LaRochelle on 2 July 1659. Françoise appeared in the census in 1666 in Canada with her husband and three young children (Jeanne Francoise, Jean, (?) Marie [Agnes]). She appeared in the census in 1667 in Montréal (Québec Province), Canada with her husband, Jean, and their four children (Jeanne Francoise, Jean, Marie Agnes and Jeanne Francoise). They owned 1 beast and had only 3 arpents in cultivation. She was buried on 19 May 1722 at Saints Anges in Lachine (Quebec Province), Canada.1,2658
