Twelfth Generation

4086. René DUBOT was born about 1680 in Diocese of Gar, Province of Flanders, France.251 René signed with the Compagnie des Indes to work in Louisiana. He came to the New World via/on "Chameau" in 1720. The vessel arrived in Old Biloxi on 24 November 1720. His wife, Elizabeth Duval, had died before coming to Louisiana or had died during the trip. A Compagnie des Indes census of 9 December 1721 listed his occupation as "Gazzoneur" (person who sows lawns and turf). He appeared in the census in 1723. His occupation was listed as "Excavator". He also appeared on a list of workers retained in Louisiana and his salary was listed as 200 livres. By September of the same year, it appears as though René had tired of Louisiana. He was listed as a "worker who fulfilled his contract to the Company & wishes to return to France" . It appears, however, that René did not go back to France and, instead, relocated to Natchitoches. This could have been due to the fact that his daughter, Élizabeth, had married Pierre Laurent in October 1723 and the fact that their marriage record indicated that Pierre was employed by the "Compagnie du Sr. Bernaval de la garrison des Natchitoches". Between late 1723 and 1725, he moved with his daughters and their husbands to Natchitoches. That same year, he married his second wife, Magdeleine Gay. René died on 30 January 1745 at the age of 65 in Natchitoches (Natchitoches Parish), Louisiana, USA.1898 Elizabeth DUVAL and René DUBOT were married in Province of Flanders, France.

[Note: René's second marriage to Magdeleine Gay likely took place in about 1725 in Natchitoches.]

4087. Elizabeth DUVAL was born in Province of Flanders, France. She died before November 1720.251
