990. Joseph HENNET dit SANSCHAGRIN was born in Illinois, USA. On 20 May 1758, Joseph Henet dit Sanschagrin (of New Chartres) purchased a lot at New Chartres from Jacques Henet for 140 livres (paid in full). The seller had inherited property from his parents.2050 On 1 November 1758, Joseph Henet dit Sanschagrin sold a 25 square toise lot at New Chartes to Antoine Chapsal, master smith, for 60 livres in treasury notes, paid in full. Joseph had inherited the property from his late parents.2051 He on 10 April 1764 sold a house, a horse mill and 2 horses, a barn with hay, a stable, a well and a lot at New Chartres plus 2 other properties running from the bluffs to the Mississippi, plus 2 arpents in the Indian prairie and some livestock. The property was sold to Veronique Panisse dit La Giroflee for 2000 livres. Joseph had inherited the property from his late parents, except for that in the Indian Prairie, which was acquired from Charles Vient. This is the last time that his name appears in "The Kaskaskia Manuscripts which likely indicates that he left the area shortly after this sale.2052 There are two references to Joseph Hennet dit Sanschagrin at Pointe Coupée. Joseph appears to have applied for a land grant of 10 arpents from the Spanish government on 24 January 1777. Although it is not known if the document still exists, it did contain the ruling of Governor Galvez. Joseph also had his estate in succession there on 29 October 1795. Elizabeth ROY and Joseph HENNET dit SANSCHAGRIN2053,2054 were married on 11 January 1752 in Fort de Chartres, Illinois, USA.2055
