6455. Anne Julienne DUMONT was born about 1646 in Notre-Dame de Metz ou de Maixe, Lorraine (Moselle) (Lorraine Region), France.1770 She was a "King's Daughter". The King's Daughters or "Filles du roi" were a group of approximately 800 young French women who immigrated to New France between 1663 and 1673 as part of a program by Louis XIV to furnish brides for the male immigrants. They were usually between the age of 12 and 25, had to supply a letter of reference from their parish priest and were provided a dowry by the King. The King also paid for their transport to New France. Most of the women were commoners of humble birth, were held to very high standards and were required to be physically fit enough to survive the hard work demanded of immigrants to the fledgling colony. She came to the New World via the "Le St. Jean Baptiste de Dieppe". The vessel arrived in Quebec on 18 June 1665. She appeared in the census in 1666 in Ile d'Orleans (Quebec Province), Canada with her husband, René. Anne appeared in the census in 1667 in Ile d'Orleans (Quebec Province), Canada with her husband, René, and their 11-month-old daughter, Dorothée. The couple had four arpents of land under cultivation. She died between 25 June 1704 and 3 August 1704 in Saint-Francois-du-Lac (Québec Province), Canada.2941 Anne Julienne Dumont was obviously deceased by 20 March 1706. On that day, papers were filed regarding the guardianship and curatorship of Jean Baptiste Dubois, the minor child of the deceased Pierre Rene Dubois and Anne Julienne Dumont.2625
