He was living with his 16-year-old wife, Nicole. He was identifed as being 22 years of age. They couple had two slaves (one male, one young girl). They also had five cattle, two hogs, one musket, two powder, three lead & balls, forty corn, five tobacco, and 18 (arpents) of cultivated land.¹²⁵⁷ He died on 8 June 1765 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, USA and was buried on 9 June 1765 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, USA.⁸⁴² He had his estate in succession on 20 June 1765 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, USA. On this date, a tutor for his minor children was elected and an inventory of his goods and habitation was taken. On 3 March 1769, a deliberation took place between the relatives and friends of Francois' minor children for the purpose of [drawing] a farming lease of a habitation belonging to the minors. On the 13th of that month, the lease was awarded to Francois Mayeux (spelled Mayeaux) - likely the son of the deceased. Francois MAYEUX was born on 3 September 1748 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, USA.¹²⁶² He was baptized on 22 September 1748 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, USA.¹²⁶² Although he was only 16 years of age when his parents died in 1765, he appears to have taken partial control at some time of his parent's estate and the rights of succession of his younger siblings. On 12 October 1774, he requested that a family meeting be held at Pointe Coupée so that his siblings could sell their land. The permisson for the family meeting was granted by Commandant Balthazar DeVilliers.³¹⁷⁰ On 21 October 1777 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, Jean Baptiste Lacour, curator for François, Joseph, and Baptiste Mayeux, filed a petition before the court regarding the settlement of the account of the Mayeux estate.³¹⁷¹ On 30 October 1777 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, François, Joseph, and Baptiste Mayeux affirmed that the account of the Mayeux estate rendered by Jean Baptiste Lacour was true.³¹⁷² On 30 October 1777 in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, a settlement of the account of the Mayeux estate took place with the heirs, François, Joseph, and Baptiste Mayeux - all the age of majority.³¹⁷³ He was likely the "François Mayeux" who was buried on 17 November 1808 at St. François d’Assise Catholic Cemetery in (Pointe Coupée Parish), Louisiana, USA. He was identified as 56 years of age in the burial record although he was 60 years old at that time.³¹⁶²
