762. Johann Nikolaus WICHNER (VICNER) was born in 1700 in Grombach, Baden, Germany.1890 He came to the New World via/on "L'Elephant" according to J. Hanno Deiler's "Settlement of the German Coast..." with a wife and one child. However. according to Albert J. Robichaux, Jr. in his book entitled "German Coast Families...", Wichner (Vicner) did not appear on any of the early ship lists and, instead, did not appear in Louisiana records until the 1731 Census. An examination of the L'Elephant ship lists seems to indicate that Deiler likely believed that an entry for "Nicolas Vitrequin & Thereze Josephe sa femme" was Nicolas Wichner (Vicner). I do not believe that is the case. This Nicolas 'Vitrequin' and Therese Flamande had a son named Gratien who married in Pointe Coupée in 1777. However, there was no child by the name of Gratien listed in the succession records of Nicolas Wichner/Vicner. "Nicolas Witner", his wife, and one child appeared in the 1731 Census residing among the Germans at "Anse aux Outardes". L'Anse aux Outardes, also known as Bustard's Cove, was located around present-day New Sarpy. (Note: Since it is unclear as to when the first husband of Anna Barbara Friderich died, it is not possible to confirm that she is the wife of Nicolas Wichner/Vicner mentioned in the 1731 Census with him. However, I suspect that Anna Barbara became a widow some time shortly after the birth of her first child and that the married Wichner/Vicner c1730/1731. If this is the case, it would possibly indicate that the child listed with the couple in 1731 was Catherine Merckle/Merkel.) He sold property on 29 October 1741 in (St. Charles Parish), Louisiana, USA. Johann purchased property on 2 November 1741 in (St. Charles Parish), Louisiana, USA. He signed an agreement to take in his father-in-law, Conrad Frederic on 18 November 1742 in (St. Charles Parish), Louisiana, USA.1891 He died on 15 July 1772 at the age of 72 in Edgard (St. John the Baptist Parish), Louisiana, USA.1892 Anna Barbara FRIDERICH and Johann Nikolaus WICHNER (VICNER)1893 were married about 1730 in Louisiana, USA.
763. Anna Barbara FRIDERICH was baptized on 18 July 1708 in Rotenburg, Baden, Germany.1894 She died on 25 January 1773 and was buried on 26 January 1773 in Edgard (St. John the Baptist Parish), Louisiana, USA.1,2914
