1526. Joannes Conradus FRIDERICH was baptized on 8 October 1679 in Rotenburg, Baden, Germany.1,2175 According to Robichaux's "German Coast Families ...", the entire Friderich family left Rotenberg, and by 8 October 1720, they had arrived in Lorient and were awaiting passage to Louisiana.1616 He appeared in the census in 1723 at Second German Coast in (St. John the Baptist Parish), Louisiana, USA at the village of Hoffen on the Second German Coast. In the 1724 census, Conrad Frederic, age 50, and his wife and five children were still living at the village of Hoffen. He was described as a native of Rotemberg (?), Bishopric of Spire, was a Roman Catholic and a laborer. According to a transcription of the census, "his terrain is not fixed; he is on it only since the waters have receded. He is there already barricaded and has started to clear the land in order to harvest their rice and corn of a sufficient amount to support his family; harvested 25 barrels of grains; good worker". In 1726, the family was still living in the village of Hoffen with 6 arpents of cleared land. There is a "Jean Conera Frederic" in the 1 July 1727 census with a wife and four children. The family was still living on the German Coast by 1731 with one child at home and two negros. The family owned one cow. On 17 September 1742, Conrad Frederic and his wife, Ursule, sold their habitation consisting of about 11 or 12 arpents on the bank of the "river St. Louis" to Gabriel Lange for 1050 livres. 1891 On 18 November 1742, the aging Conrad Frederic signed an agreement with his son-in-law, Nicolas Wincher, in which Nicolas agreed to allow Conrad to live with him. In exchange, Contrad agreed to work on Nicolas' homestead and take care of his cattle. The agreement stated that neither Conrad or his children had any claim to Wincher's land or buildings. Interestingly, Conrad's wife, Ursula Freyen is not mentioned leading one to wonder if she had died in the two months since the couple sold their property.1891 He died after 18 November 1742 in (St. Charles Parish), Louisiana, USA based on the date of his agreement with Nicolas Wincher.1891 Ursula FREYEN and Joannes Conradus FRIDERICH1893 were married on 27 October 1702 in Rotenburg, Baden, Germany.1,2175
